In this paper, I aim to understand the relationship between transformation processes of social control, including its particular social, economic and cultural framework, and changes in youth control. I will focus on the Colombian case; specifically, I will analyze the transformations in youth control brought about in the international law, which has established general criteria that came to defined criminal policy in the region. I attempted to show that warranties and rights defining the new paradigm are not the result of the consolidation of a universal conscience about childhood protection, but rather the response to social needs of control and its own operating mechanisms. |
