After almost two decades of the concession of the drinking water and sanitation service of the
Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires, this article reconstructs the performance of this supply which was
renationalized in 2006. Taking into account the characteristics it acquired during the private management,
the main objective of this work is to find continuities and ruptures in its operation and the state regulation
between that period and the one of the renationalization. Basically, we consider the role of the state in the
whole process. The analysis relies on the combination of different sources: official documents, legislation
and statistics, companies balance sheets and reports, newspaper articles and semi-structured interviews. |
