Publishing guidelines and arbitration system
Submission of articles
Submission of articles may be done at any time, and must comply with the submission and editing guidelines described below. In the cases of publications in thematic dossiers, they will have specific maximum terms for their acceptance.
The articles must be written in Spanish, be original works and cannot be simultaneously under evaluation in other publications. The maximum number of authors for articles and research advances will be three, the comments on judicial rulings and books will be individual and the translations may be the product of group work.

Evaluation system
The evaluation of the articles and research advances will follow the following procedure:
- The proposal must be sent to the institutional email of the magazine prisionesrevistapenal@ Derecho.uba.ar. Within 72 hours the author will receive a confirmation of receipt of the article.
- Within thirty days, the Editorial Board will control compliance with the formal requirements, as well as their adequacy and relevance to the objectives of the journal. In the case of not passing that instance, the authorities of the journal will inform the author of the decision, referring to the unfulfilled requirements. The proposal may be readjusted, leaving the author free to present it in another publication.
- Only in the case of meeting those requirements, the work will be sent to two referees specially selected for their expertise in the subject worked on in the article. Following the double-blind principle, neither the evaluator nor the author will know the identity of the other person. In accordance with pre-established criteria, the evaluators will rule within sixty days of receiving the work, on its originality, clarity and relevance. In their opinion they may propose: a) approve the work, without suggesting modifications; b) propose modifications; and c) reject the job. In the case of opposing opinions, the final decision will fall to the Editorial Board.
- In the case of rejection of the work, it will be enabled to be presented in another publication.
- If the referees suggest modifications, the corrected version must be sent within thirty days of communicating the opinion. After this period, the job application process must begin again.
- In the case of approval of the work, the decision will be informed to the author, with an estimated indication of the possible date of publication.
Translations and comments on court rulings and books will be approved exclusively by the journal's authorities without going through external control.
The maximum length of the articles and research advances will be eight thousand words, including its header, notes, references and bibliography. Comments may not exceed three thousand words.
In the case of articles and research advances, the text must be accompanied by a header that must include the title of the article, centered and in bold; below it, the author's name, the full name of the university institution to which they belong (including the city and country of the institution) and their email address. The article must include a summary (in Spanish and English) that does not exceed two hundred words, in which the topic, the methodology used and its conclusions are described, and must also list a maximum of five keywords in both languages.
Guidelines
The title of the article must be sent in Arial 11, line spacing 1.15, justified, with subsequent spacing, in capital letters.
The subtitles in Arial 11 in italics numbered by Roman numerals (I, II, III, IV, …) and in the second and third level subtitles in Roman numerals (I.I I.II, II.I, II.I, etc. ) single line spacing, with trailing spacing.
The text must be sent in Arial 11, line spacing of 1.15 cm, paragraph in justified alignment throughout the document. The top and bottom margins should be 2.5 cm. and the right and left, 3 cm. The first line of each paragraph of text should be indented ½ inch. (1.27 cm) from the left margin (Tab Key).
Content references should be included as a footnote (not at the end of the text) in Arial 10, single line spacing, no indentation, and justified alignment.
The text must be submitted in one column. Tables, graphs and other figures should be embedded in the text after the first time they are mentioned. They will be assigned a consecutive number included in the title (Table 1: “Title”). The type and size of the font, as well as the line spacing, will be the same as that of the text.
For bibliographic citations, the APA (American Psychological Association) standards, seventh edition, available at: https://normas-apa.org/wp-content/uploads/Guia-Normas-APA-7ma-edition, must be followed. pdf. The same will apply to the inclusion of titles and subtitles in the text and any issue not specifically addressed in these editorial guidelines.
The APA guidelines for the final section of bibliographical references should also be followed.
The text must contain, in the following order, title, name of the author, institutional affiliation and email. A summary and keywords in Spanish and English, followed by the article. All of the above should be done in font, spacing, and justification similar to the text. The keywords and keywords must be separated from each other with a semicolon.
In the case of translations of articles, the prior written authorization of the author of the work in its original language must be obtained; The exact reference of the original publication and the names of the translators must be included in the first footnote.
Plagiarism and scientific fraud detection policy
The publication of a work that violates intellectual property rights will be the responsibility of the authors, who will be the ones to assume the conflicts that may arise due to copyright reasons. The most important conflicts can be due to the commission of plagiarism. Plagiarism means:
- Present the work of others as your own.
- Adopt words or ideas from other authors without due acknowledgment.
- Do not use quotation marks or other distinctive formatting in a literal quote.
- Giving incorrect information about the true source of a citation.
- Paraphrasing a source without mentioning the source.
- Abusive paraphrasing, even if the source is mentioned.
- The practices constituting scientific fraud are the following:
- Fabrication, falsification or omission of data and plagiarism.
- Duplicate post.
- Authorship conflicts.
Plagius software is used for plagiarism detection. This stage of control is the responsibility of the Editorial Board and the Director.
