Welcome

Once you receive your acceptance letter to study at the Faculty, it is time to finalize all the details to ensure your semester in Buenos Aires is as productive and enriching as possible. To this end, we organize an introductory meeting with all international students a few days before each semester begins.

The meeting is important because we will explain everything you need to have a successful semester at the Faculty. Additionally, the meeting is highly enriching as students can network with each other and make the most of the experience of studying in another country, meeting not only locals but people from all over the world.

Attendance at the welcome meeting in Buenos Aires is mandatory. Otherwise, you will not be able to take courses at the Faculty.

Courses

International students have a special enrollment regime. To facilitate integration into the academic environment of the Faculty, we allow you to take courses during the first two weeks without being officially enrolled (i.e., a course shopping period). After this period, you must decide which courses you will take, and this decision cannot be changed later.

The Law program at the Faculty is divided into two distinct cycles: the Common Professional Cycle (CPC) and the Specialized Professional Cycle (CPO). The CPC consists of 14 compulsory courses for local students, while the CPO includes 6 compulsory courses and numerous seminars that provide credits for the student's chosen orientation. Seminars can last four, three, two, or one month, and based on the duration, they provide a specific number of credits (a four-month course equals four credits; a two-month course equals two credits; etc.).

According to this general regulation, you can enroll in a maximum of seven CPC courses per year or 28 CPO credits. If you are coming for only one semester, you can enroll in four CPC courses or 20 CPO credits. It is also possible to mix courses from both cycles.

Regular courses generally run from early March to early July (First Semester) and from early August to early December (Second Semester).

End of the Course

Once you have completed your exams, the International Office will process your transcript with the grades obtained. It is important to note that the Faculty of Law has many students, so the transcript may take several weeks. Therefore, at the beginning of the following semester, the Faculty sends an envelope containing the transcript and an explanatory note about the University of Buenos Aires grading system. With this documentation, you will be able to obtain the corresponding equivalencies at your home university.

Consult the explanatory grading table.
